Six Women's Soccer Players Honored By UAA;
Freshman Abigail Coffin Named Rookie of the Year

Nov. 10 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) Six members of the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team have been named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) teams that were announced November 10. Freshman forward Abigail Coffin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was named Rookie of the Year.

Sophomore defender Amanda Rose (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West) received First Team recognition, while Coffin, junior midfielder Lisa Pascoli (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), and senior forward Nadya Yaghoubi (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) were honored with Second Team status. Two seniors, forward Hallie Dumont (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Mount Lebanon), and defender Mollie Salpeter (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman), were named Honorable Mention.

Carnegie Mellon made the ECAC Tournament for the fifth consecutive season and will play Ursinus at Penn State Behrend in the semifinals Saturday, November 12 at 2:00 pm. The Tartans currently have a record of 11-4-2.

Rose leads the team and UAA with eight assists and has a total of ten points. She has led a defense that has allowed just eight goals all season and has recorded 12 shutouts.

Coffin leads the team with 20 points and nine goals. She currently ranks fourth and leads all freshmen in the UAA in both. Coffin has record two multi-goal games this season. Pascoli has five goals and 11 points with three game winners. Lisa is third on the team in goals. Yaghoubi has three goals and two assists. All three of her goals this season have been for game-winners.

Dumont is the second leading scorer for Carnegie Mellon, as she has posted six goals and 16 points. She became the Tartans all-time goal scoring leader in women’s soccer history with 31 career goals in a 6-0 victory over Washington & Jefferson in the ECAC Southern quarterfinal game. Salpeter has helped lead the defense with Rose that has kept the opposition to 5.7 shots per game.
