Women’s Cross Country Finishes Seventh at UAA’s

Oct. 27 – (WALTHAM, Mass.) – The Carnegie Mellon women’s cross country team raced to a seventh place finish out of eight teams at the 2007 University Athletic Association (UAA) Cross Country Championships hosted by Brandeis University. The Tartans totaled 198 points overall while #3 ranked Washington University won the team championship with 31 points. The six kilometer course was in Franklin Park in Boston on Saturday, October 27.
Junior
Carolyn Clayton (Northampton, Mass.) paced the Tartans, finishing 26th overall in a time of 24:16. Freshman
Rebecca Hachey (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was second on the team and 43rd overall with a time of 25:20 and sophomore
Anna Lenhart (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) placed 50th overall (25:32).
Freshman
Kristen Staab (Trafford, Pa./Penn Trafford) was fourth on the team and 53rd overall (25:39) and junior
Chrissy Krutz (Natrona Heights, Pa./Shadyside Academy) finished with a time of 25:42 (55th overall).
Freshman
Laura McKee (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) and senior
Erin Gagnon (Lebanon, N.H.) rounded out the top seven for the Tartans. McKee finished with a time of 26:01 (60th overall) and Gagnon notched a time of 26:08 (63rd).
The Carnegie Mellon women’s cross country team will next be in action on Saturday, November 10 when they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional hosted by Lehigh University. The top teams from the regional advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota on Saturday, November 17th.
