Women's Cross Country Finishes 22nd at Lehigh

Sept. 28 – (BETHLEHEM, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon women’s cross country team raced on Friday, September 28 at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. The team competed in the “Varsity B” race against strong Division III competition, and came away with 544 points and a 22nd place finish. SUNY Cortland won the six kilometer race, containing 240 runners, with 158 points.

Junior Carolyn Clayton (Northampton, Mass.) paced the Tartans, coming in first on the team and 74th overall with a time of 24:42. Freshman Rebecca Hachey (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) ran a personal best time of 24:56, good for 91st place in the race and sophomore Anna Lenhart (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) finished in 124th place with a personal best time of 25:27.

Freshman Kristen Staab (Trafford, Pa./Penn Trafford) was fourth on the team and 133rd overall (personal best of 25:37) and junior Chrissy Krutz (Natrona Heights, Pa./Shadyside Academy) finished with a time of 26:01 (149th overall).

Senior Erin Gagnon (Lebanon, N.H.) finished in 155th place, crossing the line in a personal best time of 26:15 and freshman Laura McKee (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) placed 168th overall in a personal best time of 26:30.

Senior Ashley Bakelmun (Wayne, N.J.) was the only member of the women’s cross country team in the “Junior Varsity” race and she ran the six kilometer race in 26:13, good for 263rd overall out of 409 runners.

The Carnegie Mellon women’s cross country team will race again at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Saturday, October 13 in Schenley Park.
