Women’s Cross Country Finishes 7th at Conference Meet

Oct. 29 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon women’s cross country team improved on their eighth place finish in conference last season with a seventh place finish in the six kilometer race Saturday, October 29. Senior Jocelyn Sikora (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) was the top Tartan runner, coming in twelfth in a personal record time of 23:08.9. Senior KJ Helmstetter (Beavercreek, Ohio/Miami Valley) was the number two Tartan runner coming in 32nd place with a time of 23:56.4.
Sikora’s performance earns her UAA second team All-Conference. Washington University took home the women’s title with a team score of 31, beating out second place Emory’s score of 72.
The Tartan runners will be in action again on Saturday, November 12th when they race at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional held at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa. The top three men’s and women’s teams from the regional advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships held at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio on Saturday, November 19th.
