Women’s Cross Country Runners Earn Academic Honors

April 3 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women’s cross country team earned Academic All-American honors, as awarded by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). To be eligible for the honor, the cumulative GPA of all members of the team must be at least 3.1. The 18 runners on the women’s team combined to earn a 3.35 GPA.

An amazing 157 female runners compiled GPAs of 3.5 or higher at the Division III level to receive Individual Academic All-American honors. Seniors Jocelyn Sikora (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips) and Karen Helmstetter (Beavercreek, Ohio/Miami Valley) earned Individual Academic All-American honors with a 3.71 GPA.
