Women’s Basketball Falls to Emory 69-46

Feb. 22 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team lost 69-46 to Emory University in University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Friday, February 22 on the hardwood of Skibo Gymnasium. The Eagles strong shootinmg from behind the arc help them improve their record to 13-10 overall and 6-6 in the UAA. Carnegie Mellon drops to 7-16 overall and 0-12 in the UAA.
Emory began the game on a 14-3 run over the first four minutes of the contest. Carnegie Mellon cut the deficit to five scoring the next six points, but the Eagles 9-of-12 showing from behind the arc over the first twenty minutes of play landed Emory with a 46-23 lead at the break. Leah Feola’s (Pittsburgh, Pa./Canevin Catholic) ten points at the half, as she shot 4-of-6 from the field including hitting both of her three-point attempts.
The second half was an even match game as Emory cooled off from long distance making only two from behind the arc. Feola continued her play from the first half scoring nine in the second to end with a game-high 19 points. The senior tied a season-high with three block shots. The only other Tartan in double figures was junior
Stacie Aleski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) cashing in with ten points.

Rachelle Roll (Ostrander, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) led all players with 11 rebounds marking the seventh time this season she has grabbed ten or more in a game.
Emory was led by junior Lora Turner with 13 points. Junior Jenny Kraus and sophomore Mary Smith each totaled ten in the Eagles win.
The Carnegie Mellon women’s basketball team will play again on Sunday, February 24 when they entertain Case Western Reserve University in Skibo Gymnasium. The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
