Women's Basketball Falls to Chicago on Road

Feb. 10 – (CHICAGO, Ill.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team faced tough competition in the University of Chicago on Sunday, February 10 as they fell 67-38 in University Athletic Association action. The Tartans fall to 7-13 on the year and 0-9 in league play while the Maroons move to 15-5 and 6-3.
The Tartans scored the first points of the game on two free throws by junior guard Stacie Aleski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) but the Maroons pulled away as the Tartans could only shoot 14.8% from the field during the first 20 minutes and trailed 33-13 at the half.
Carnegie Mellon's shooting struggles improved in the second stanza as they put in 33.3% of their attempts and hit two three-pointers. The Tartans also scored five points off six Maroon turnovers in the period.
Junior post Rachelle Roll (Ostrander, Ohio/Buckeye Valley) just missed collecting a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Leah Feola (Pittsburgh, Pa./Canevin Catholic) scored nine on the day to follow Roll.
Chicago was led by Nicaya Rapier's ten points while three others scored nine apiece.
The Tartans will next face New York University, who has lost six straight games, Friday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m.
