Women’s Basketball Lands Two Players on All-UAA Squad

Mar. 1 - (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Two Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball players found a spot on the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) women’s basketball teams when announced Thursday, March 1. Junior forward Leah Feola (Pittsburgh, Pa./Canevin Catholic) and sophomore forward Ashley Rothwell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Alvernia) both received All-UAA honorable mention status from the league coaches.

Feola led the team in scoring with 282 points, averaging 11.3 per game. She finished second in rebounding (6.0), steals (42), and assists (56). Feola recorded her first career double-double against association champion Washington (Mo.) University as she had 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. Following the Washington game Feola recorded two more double-doubles and averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds over the stretch of the three games earning her UAA Player of the Week honors. She finished the season scoring in double figures in 15 games for the Tartans.

Rothwell earned a spot on the All-Association team after leading the team in field goal percentage (.444), while averaging a team best 6.4 rebounds. She also tallied 10.5 points for the season, the second leading scorer on the team behind Feola. The sophomore finished third on the team with 11 blocks. Rothwell posted a career-high 22 points against Rochester and a career high 15 rebounds against Grove City.
