Men’s Track and Field Competes at WVU

Feb. 2 – (MORGANTOWN, W. Va.) – Like a good neighbor, State Farm was there. The Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and field team competed at the State Farm Games hosted by West Virginia University on Saturday, February 2. The unscored meet was held at the WVU Shell Building.
Sophomore
Chris Bogie (Darien, Conn.) finished first in the 500 meter dash (1:06.24) and junior
Brian Harvey (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) took top honors in the 800 meters (1:58.24). Harvey added a second place finish in the 3000 meters (8:53.31) later in the day.
Junior
Breck Fresen (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) placed second in the mile run (4:29.92) with senior
Drew Miller (West Chester, Pa./Westchester East) right on his heels (4:30.81). Senior
Scott Fortune (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) contributed a third place finish in the 800 meters (1:59.27).
Freshman
Essien Ohues (Alpharetta, Ga./Chaptahoochee) took third in the high jump (1.95 meters), increasing his height from last week. Ohues added a fifth place finish in the triple jump with a personal best distance of 13.02 meters. Senior
Eric Tang (Alhambra, Calif./Dunn School) placed fourth in the long jump (6.33 m) and freshman
Mike Tomovich (New Paris, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) finished sixth (6.18 m). Sophomore
Chris Bridgman (Casselberry, Fla./Lyman) finished fifth in the pole vault with a season best 4.26 meters.
Sophomore
James Hulley (Northampton, Mass.) placed seventh in the shot put (13.07 m) and junior
Chris Fornataro (Ellwood City, Pa./Riverside) was tops on the team in the weight throw (13.46 m), good for seventh place overall. Freshman
Nate Bussiere (Canton, Conn.) placed fourth in the 500 meters (1:08.98) and sophomore
Stephen Carney (Burrell, Pa.) was the top Tartan in the 400 meters (53.79), putting him in 11th place overall.
The Tartan men’s indoor track and field team will return to action next Saturday, when they travel to Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
