Feb. 9 – (LEWISBURG, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men’s indoor track and field team competed at the Bucknell Winter Classic on Saturday led by junior
Brian Harvey’s (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) school record-setting performance in the mile. The unscored meet was the third of the indoor season for the Tartans.
Harvey clocked a 4:12.67 in the mile, en route to finishing second. Harvey’s previous personal best was 4:13.26, set at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships. He also added a second place finish in the 800 meters (1:56.69). Junior
Breck Fresen (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Stevenson) won the 3000 meters with a time of 8:37.36 and sophomore
Dario Donatelli (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) placed seventh (8:46.09). Freshman
J.P. Allera (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) placed third overall in the 5000 meters (15:29.44).
In the field events, freshman
Essien Ohues (Alpharetta, Ga./Chaptahoochee) finished fourth in the high jump (1.89 m), senior
Eric Tang (Alhambra, Calif./Dunn School) placed fifth in the long jump (6.56 m), and freshman
Patrick O’Brien (Furnance, Pa./State College Area) collected a sixth place finish in the triple jump (13.05 m). Sophomore
Chris Bridgman (Casselberry, Fla./Lyman) placed tied for eighth in the pole vault with a height of 4.20 meters and senior
Mike Reggie (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) was tops on the team with a throw of 12.91 meters in the shot put. Sophomore
James Hulley (Northampton, Mass.) placed ninth in the weight throw (13.46 m) and junior
Chris Fornataro (Ellwood City, Pa./Riverside) was tenth (13.33 m).
Freshman
Chris Luther (Riverview, Fla.) raced in the finals of the 55 meter hurdles and finished seventh (8.24 seconds). Tang competed in the finals of the 55 meter dash and placed fifth (6.68 seconds). Sophomore
Chris Bogie (Darien, Conn.) was the top Tartan in the 400 meters as he finished 11th in a season best 52.54 seconds. Freshman
Dan Addis (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) raced the 1000 meters, finishing 12th (2:39.20), freshman
Casey Piper (Butler, Pa.) raced the 200 meters, placing 14th (23.68), and senior
Drew Miller (West Chester, Pa./Westchester East) ran a season best 4:22.45 as he placed fifth in the mile.
The Tartans will next be in action on Friday, February 15 when they compete at Baldwin-Wallace.
