Handful of Men’s Track and Field Members Compete at Richmond

Mar. 24 – (RICHMOND, Va.) – A handful of members of the Carnegie Mellon men’s track and field team opened up their outdoor track seasons by competing at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by the University of Richmond on Saturday, March 24.
Senior Davey Quinn (Glen Ellyn, Ill./St. Francis Prep) ran a personal best of 3:56.30 in the 1500 meters, good for tenth place against Division I competition. Sophomore Brian Harvey (Ellicott City, Md/Centennial) finished third in the 5000 meter race with a time of 15:11.18. Senior Nicholas Bannister (Sugar Land, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) competed in the 110 meter hurdles and came in ninth in 15.34 seconds and then followed that up with a 16th place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (59.02 seconds). Senior Jeff Polack (Medina, Ohio) also competed with Bannister in the 400 meter hurdles and he finished in 17th place with a time of 59.33 seconds.
Junior Mike Reggie (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) competed in the shot put, finishing seventh with a distance of 13.32 meters. Reggie also competed in the discus and hammer throw, coming in 13th with a distance of 39.18 meters in the discus and fifth with a distance of 46.14 meters in the hammer.
The men’s and women’s teams will take the majority of their members to the Western Pennsylvania Championships at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 31.
