Two School Records Broken at Gator Invite

May 10 – (MEADVILLE, Pa.) – A handful of members of the Carnegie Mellon men’s track & field team competed Thursday, May 10 at the Allegheny College Gator Invite. Two school records were broken courtesy of sophomore
Brian Harvey (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and freshman
James Hulley (Northampton, Mass.).
Harvey finished fourth in the 5000 meter race with a provisionally qualifying and school record time of 14:40.92. Hulley placed sixth in the discus with a school record throw of 45.20 meters. The Tartans took home two individual titles with senior Russel Verbofsky (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) winning the men’s 200 meters with a season best time of 22.21 seconds and senior Eric Tang (Los Angeles, Calif./Dunn) winning the long jump behind a jump of 6.57 meters. Verbofsky also added a third place finish in the 400 meters with a personal record time of 49.58 seconds and Tang placed seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 12.66 meters.
Sophomore Ryan Anderson (Orchard Park, N.Y.) ran a personal record time of 9:33.97 in the 3000 meter steeplechase, good for second place. Junior Michael Reggie (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) placed third in the hammer throw with a distance of 49.58 meters. Senior Nick Bannister (Sugar Land, Texas/Stephen F. Austin) and sophomore Craig Hahn (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) raced in the 110 meter high hurdles with Bannister placing fifth (15.19 seconds) and Hahn eighth (16.14 seconds). Hahn also added an eighth place finish in the 400 meter hurdles (57.60 seconds).
Junior Drew Miller (West Chester, Pa./Westchester East) placed sixth in the mile (4:19.66) and senior Davey Quinn (Glen Ellyn, Ill./St. Francis Prep) placed 12th in the invite mile with a time of 4:22.29.
A handful of runners will compete Monday, May 14 at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.
