#14 Tartans Fall to #7 Kenyon in Regional Final
May 4 – (GAMBIER, Ohio) – The Tartans men's tennis team defeated #7 Kenyon College last month by a 5-4 score in the Great Lakes College's Association Tournament but the Lords returned the favor with a 5-1 win in the Great Lakes Regional Final hosted by Kenyon on Sunday, May 4. Kenyon will move on to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament which will be hosted by Bates College May 13-18.
Kenyon was able to take a 3-0 lead after doubles play putting the Tartans up against the wall heading into singles action. Sophomore James Muliawan (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) earned the Tartans lone victory at number two singles with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Greg Sussman.
In unfinished matches, sophomore Ravi Raghavan (Saratoga, Calif.) was tied 1-1 heading into the third set and freshman Alex Nemerov (Lake Forest, Ill.) looked like he might even the match at 1-1 as he was leading the second set 6-5.
The Tartans finish the season with a 19-8 record and their third trip to the NCAA Tournament in five years.
