Men’s Tennis Battles Duquesne

Sept. 14 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – After defeating Robert Morris University by a 8-1 score, the Carnegie Mellon University men’s tennis team fell 7-2 to Duquesne University. The Tartans are now 1-1 on the season and travel to Allegheny College for two matches on Saturday, September 15.

Winning matches for the Tartans were freshman Bobby MacTaggart (Boonton, N.J./Newark Academy) and junior Jon Spero (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shadyside Academy). MacTaggart defeated Michael Ortega at number two singles in a super tiebreaker, 5-7, 7-6(12-10), 1-0 (10-8). Spero played number five singles and beat Mikhael Rasner 6-3, 6-2.

Junior Yiran Liu (Rockville, Md./Wootton) played a tough match but fell in a super tiebreaker at number six singles by a score of 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(10-7).
