#17 Men's Tennis Upset #11 Bowdoin

Mar. 11 – (CLAREMONT, Calif.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked seventeenth, surprised #11 Bowdoin College Tuesday afternoon with a 5-4 victory.  The Tartans improve to 10-2 in dual action, as the victory marked the fourth straight and second over a nationally ranked opponent.  The Polar Bears drop to 1-2 with the loss.

Carnegie Mellon jumped out to an early 2-1 lead following wins at second and third doubles.  The Polar Bears tied the score, but wins by sophomores Ravi Raghavan (Saratoga, Calif.) and James Muliawan (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) along with freshman Alex Nemerov (Lake Forest, Ill.) at fifth, third and second singles sealed the Tartan victory.

Senior Andrew Clearfield (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna) drooped a hard fought three-set match to Garrett Gates, the sixteenth ranked singles player in Division III.
