Three Named All-UAA for Men's Tennis

May 5 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The University Athletic Association announced it's men's tennis All-UAA selections on Thursday, May 1 and three Carnegie Mellon University athletes were honored. Freshman Bobby MacTaggart (Boonton, N.J./Newark Academy) was the lone Tartan on the first team while sophomore James Muliawan (Wycoff, N.J./Ramapo) and junior Yiran Liu (Rockville, Md./Wootton) made the second team.

MacTaggart won his number six singles match against University of Chicago helping the Tartans to third place and had an unfinished match at number six singles against Emory University. For the year, MacTaggart was 5-1 at six singles including two wins against ranked teams.

Muliawan was honored at second singles and makes his second appearance on the All-UAA team. Muliawan had a strong singles year finishing 19-4 overall in a mix of singles play. Seven of his wins came against ranked teams and he was at his best in the spring as he won six straight matches at second singles including two during the NCAA Great Lakes Regional.

Liu won both of his matches at the UAA Championship as he defeated Brandeis's number six 6-1, 6-1 and Chicago's number five 6-4, 6-4 and finished with a 10-7 record for the year.
