#11 Men’s Tennis Opens UAA Tournament with 5-1 Win

April 27 - (CLEVELAND, Ohio) - The men's tennis team of Carnegie Mellon University opened the University Athletic Association Tournament with a 5-1 win over the #6 seed Case Western Reserve University, Friday afternoon at Case Western Reserve. The Tartans are the #3 seed of the tournament and move their record to 18-5 on the year.

Singles:
1. James Muliawan (CMU) def. Joe Smetona (Case) 6-2, 7-6 (4)
2. Ravi Raghavan(CMU) def. Ben Sinder (Case) 6-1, 6-2
3. Jon Spero (CMU) def. Allen Ye (Case) 6-3, 6-0

Doubles:
1. Smetona/John Smetona (Case) def. Raghavan/Yiran Liu (CMU)9-8 (9-7)
2. Andrew Clearfield/Muliawan (CMU) def. Sinder/Ye (Case) 8-2
3. Jordan Koslosky/Spero (CMU) def. Michael Peterson/Adam Erickson (Case) 8-4

With the win the Tartans move on to play Washington University (Mo.). The Bears are seeded second for the tournament and ninth nationally.
