Tartan Tennis Player, Muliawan, Honored by UAA

Sept 19. - (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – In a weekend where the men’s tennis team opened its season with a 3-1 record, a newcomer to the team won the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week award. Freshman James Muliawan (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) made his collegiate debut by posting a perfect 4-0 record at first singles and first doubles.

Muliawan helped the Tartans to the team title at the Nancy J. Heath Gator Invitational held at Allegheny College on Saturday. He posted a pair of victories in both number one singles and doubles, including a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 win over Joe Smetona of Case Western Reserve University in the opening round. Muliawan also posted singles/doubles sweeps over area NCAA Division I opponents from Robert Morris College and Duquesne University.
