Carnegie Mellon Men's Tennis Team Lends A Hand

Sept. 19 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - On Monday, September 19, the Carnegie Mellon men's tennis team teamed up with the United States Tennis Association(USTA)/Middle States Section and the Pittsburgh Pirates as they hosted the first-ever free Tennis at PNC Park interactive event on Federal Street in front of PNC Park.

The event was designed to introduce new players to tennis and encourage increased participation among established tennis fans of all ages and abilities. The event featured four "short courts" with more than two hours of tennis tips and games.

"It was an enjoyable evening" comments Carnegie Mellon University head tennis coach Andy Girard, "this event allowed people with different ages and abilities to take part in the sport of tennis."

The event, which was free of charge, allowed participants to rotate through several short courts and take part in tennis games and drills with teaching pros. The USTA/Middle States Section provided racquets and tennis balls for all to use during the two-plus-hour tennis fest. There were prizes given away throughout the evening.
