Tartans Finish Dual Season with 115-88 Win

Jan. 26 – (NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – The Tartans men's swimming and diving team finished their dual meet season with a 115-88 win at Westminster taking their record to 7-1 on the year. Carnegie Mellon won seven events on the afternoon.
Junior Tom McConnell (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) won both the distance freestyle events touching the wall in 4:48.73 in the 500-yard event and 16:27.80 in the 1,650-yard event. Freshman Jonas Altman-Kurosaki (New York, N.Y./Stuyvesant) finished both events in second behind McConnell.
Senior Patrick Snyder (Marlton, N.J./St. Joseph's Prep) won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.90 before sophomore Andrew Weitz (Flourtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) won the 200-yard IM in 2:00.38.
Junior Michael Bailey (New Kent, Va.) finished less than a second ahead of Snyder in the 100-yard freestyle taking first with a time of 47.97. Sophomore John Johnson (Allentown, Pa.) won the sixth individual event for the Tartans, finishing just ahead of freshman Alex Hanson (Burnsville, Minn.) in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.12.
The Tartans also won the 400-yard medley relay in 3:37.47 to start the meet.
The Tartans will next swim at the University of Pittsburgh Invitational on Saturday, February 2.
