Tartan Men Finish NCAA Meet Strong
Mar. 22 – (OXFORD, Ohio) – The Tartans men's swimming and diving team took five fresh faces to the 2008 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on March 20-21 and finished the weekend strong with three earning All-America Honorable Mention accolades at the event hosted by The College of Wooster at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Junior Tom McConnell (Baltimore, Md./The Friends School of Baltimore) dropped over five seconds off his previous best time in the 1,650-yard freestyle as he finished 12th overall and earned All-America Honorable Mention honors.
Sophomore Jeff Dahlen (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Capistrano) earned his second All-America Honorable Mention honor of the weekend as he finished 11th overall in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:51.80. Dahlen earned his first award with a 16th place finish in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday while reaching the finals with a career-best 51.83.
Fellow sophomore John Johnson (Allentown, Pa.) finished 15th in the 200-yard backstroke to earn All-America Honorable Mention and set a career mark of 1:51.80 in the preliminaries.
