Krzeminkski Earns UAA Title on Day 2

Day 2 Results 

Feb. 9 - (CLEVELAND, Ohio) – Senior David Krzeminski (Grandville, Mich.) took his first ever University Athletic Association (UAA) title in the 100-yard butterfly on the second day of the UAA Championships breaking the fifty-second plateau with a career-best 49.89, a Case Western University pool record. The men sit fourth with 685.5 points after day two and the women are fourth with 586.5 points.

Other notable performances for the Tartans were freshman Andrew Weitz’s (Flourtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) fourth place finish in the 400-yard IM. His time of 4:07.52 is a national ‘B’ cut time. Also for the men, freshman Scott Moorby (Cape May, N.J./Lower Cape May Regional) had a qualifying time of 4:10.47 and finished first in the consolation heat of the 400-IM.

Freshman Jason Huber (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and sophomore Brad Henderson (Solon, Ohio) earned points for the Tartans in the championship heat of the 100-yard breaststroke. Huber finished seventh with a time of 59.33 and Henderson followed with a time of 1:00.52. Carnegie Mellon had four swimmers reach the championship heat of the 100-yard backstroke and finished five through eight. Leading the pack was freshman John Johnson (Allentown, Pa.) with a 53.25 time.

Junior Anna Kochalko (Encinitas, Calif./Univ. of San Diego HS) placed second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:39.30 for the women. Junior Lauren Connell (Hasbrouck Hts., N.J.) and junior Sarah Lam (Huntington, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) had personal top-times in the 100-yard butterfly touching in 1:00.59 and 1:02.74, respectively to earn points in the consolation and bonus finals.

Junior Alex Kinzler (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) finished tied for second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.53. Her time was a ‘B’ cut qualifier and her personal best. Senior Jenny Sieger (Newtown Square, Pa./Radnor) also placed in the championship heat of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.19, good for sixth place and a season-best time.

The final day of the UAA Championships will take place on Saturday, February 10 at Case Western Reserve University.
