Krzeminski Holds Top Spot in Chase for NCAA Championship

Mar. 8 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Senior Dave Krzeminski (Granville, Mich.) will end his swimming career at Carnegie Mellon University with a trip to the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships to be held March 15-17 at the University of Houston. Krzeminski has qualified for the championships in each of his four seasons at Carnegie Mellon and has earned three individual All-America distinctions and two distinctions as part of a relay.

The senior butterfly specialist qualified for the 2007 meet with the nation’s top time in the 200-yard butterfly. His time of 1:49.76 is the only one to break the 1:50.00 mark this season and is 2.25 seconds better than his top time from a year ago, when he placed fifth at the national meet. The NCAA record in the event is 1:45.19 and was set by Pedro Monteiro of Kenyon College in 1997.

Krzeminski will also participate in the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard butterfly. His 49.89 time in the 100-yard event is .68 seconds off the top qualifying time by Nelson Westby of St. Olaf College. He is looking to make the championship heat for the first time after earning honorable mention All-America the past three seasons.

The meet starts for Krzeminski on Thursday, March 15 with the 200-yard IM. He’ll continue with the 100-yard butterfly on Friday and finish the meet with his top event, the 200-yard butterfly on Saturday.
