Krzeminski Crowned National Champion at NCAA Swimming Championships

Mar. 17 - (HOUSTON, Texas) – During the final day of the 2007 NCAA Division III national competition, Saturday, March 17, Carnegie Mellon senior David Krzeminski (Grandville, Mich.) earned All-America recognition after winning his first ever National Championship in the 200-yard butterfly.

In the preliminaries Krzeminski swam the best time of the event as he was the only swimmer to break the 1:50.00 mark after touching the wall in 1:49.85 to earn a trip to the championship final heat. In the championship final heat he topped his preliminary time touching the wall with a time of 1:49.54 setting a school record. Krzeminski becomes Carnegie Mellon’s first National Champion since Chris Pearson won two in 2005 winning the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly.

Krzeminski was also named an all All-American marking his second of the 2007 championships, the other in the 100-yard butterfly, and sixth All-America honor for his career. The past two year’s at the NCAA Championships he placed in the top eight in the 200-yard butterfly earning All-America status. In 2006, he placed fifth in the event.
