Men Take Title at Longnecker Invite, Women Take Second

Dec. 2 - (GROVE CITY, Pa.) – Senior David Krzeminski (Grandville, Mich.) led the men in their repeat title (1,081.5 points) at the Longnecker Invitational held at Grove City College, while junior Anna Kochalko (Encinitas, Calif./Univ. of San Diego HS) led a women’s team (660 points) that fought for second place. Krzeminski finished the day with two provisionally qualifying times in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly and Kochalko had two second place finishes to go with a first place title.

For the men, Krzeminski took the 200-yard butterfly top spot with a time of 1:54.42 and finished second in the 100-yard event with a time of 50.98. Freshman Andrew Weitz (Flourtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) finished second in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:18.90.

In both the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke the Tartans took the three-through-six spots. Leading the way in the breaststroke was freshman Andrew Seo (Irvine, Calif./Northwood) and in the backstroke was freshman Reece Dukes (Houston, Texas/James E. Taylor). Seo also finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.62), while Dukes finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (1:57.66).

In the distance events, sophomore Tom McConnell (Baltimore, Md./Friends School of Baltimore) took second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:55.40. Freshman Matt Kuhn (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) took home another third place finish, this time in the one-meter diving event with 199.45 points.

Kochalko’s day started with the 400-yard IM, where she finished second with a time of 4:50.52. She then took to another distance event, the 1,650-yard freestyle, and won in 18:32.04. She finished the day with a second place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:13.53).

Senior Jenny Sieger (Newtown Square, Pa./Radnor) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.30 while sophomores Alex DeFazio (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Charlotte Jennings (Yardley, Pa./Notre Dame) competed in the three-meter diving event. DeFazio took third with 192.05 points and Jennings fourth with 176.05 points.
