Hunter and Krzeminski Earn All-American Honors

Mar. 18 - (MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.) - Carnegie Mellon University senior Brian Hunter (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) and junior David Krzeminski (Grandville, Mich.) earned All-American recognition following their performances at the final day of the 2006 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships held at the University of Minnesota. This is marks Hunter’s sixth All-American honor, while Krzeminski earned his fourth.
Hunter found a spot in the championship final heat of the 200-yard breaststroke with a school record time of 2:04.59 in the preliminaries. He topped his own school record set at the 2005 NCAA Championships (2:05.13). In the championship heat Hunter surpassed his preliminary time finishing sixth with a time of 2:04.48. By finishing sixth Hunter earned 13 points for Carnegie Mellon and became an All-American in the process. At the 2005 NCAA Championships Hunter placed eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Krzeminski swam his best time of the season in the 200-yard butterfly preliminaries to earn a trip to the championship final heat with a time of 1:52.34. In the championship final heat he top his preliminary time touching the wall with a time of 1:52.01 placing him fifth and earned 14 points towards the Tartans team score. With his fifth place finish Krzeminski garnered All-American status; marking the second straight year he has achieved All-American honors in the event.
Entering the day in 40th place, Carnegie Mellon jumped to 27th to finish the event with 33 points.
