Krzeminski and Hunter Compete at NCAA Swimming Championships

Day 2 Results 

Mar. 17 - (MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.) - Carnegie Mellon University junior David Krzeminski (Grandville, Mich.) earned a spot in the consolation heat of the 100-yard butterfly Friday morning at the NCAA Championships held at the University of Minnesota. In making the top 16, Krzeminski earned points for Carnegie Mellon as a team and added the school's name to the overall team list.

In the consolation finals of the 100-yard butterfly Friday evening, Krzeminski finished 11th with a time of 50:36 earning six points for Carnegie Mellon in team competition. On Thursday afternoon Krzeminski placed 45th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.59.

Krzeminski’s teammate, senior Brian Hunter (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon), turned in two 17th place finishes in the past two days. On Thursday, Hunter touched the wall with a time of 1:54.25 in the 200-yard IM. Friday, he finished thirty-five hundredths of a second off a school record time in the 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 57.94. His time in the 100-yard breaststroke was his personal best.

Both swimmers will compete in one more event on Saturday. Krzeminski will compete in the 200-yard butterfly and Hunter in the 200-yard breaststroke event. Last year at the NCAA Championships both swimmers placed in the top eight in the events earning All-American status. Preliminary events start at 11:00 a.m.
