Two Male Swimmers Qualify for Nationals

Mar. 6 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – A pair of All-American swimmers, senior Brian Hunter (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford-Mendon) and junior David Krzeminski (Grandville, Mich.) have qualified for the 2006 Division III NCAA Swimming Meet to be held at the University of Minnesota. The pair will look to take the All-American experience to a new level and become a National Champion during the meet that is set to take place March 16-18.

Hunter, a five-time All-American qualified for the 2006 championships in the 200-yard IM. His time of 1:53.70 ranks him 10th for the event with the top time to beat going in is 1:51.36 by Andrejs Duba from Kenyon (Ohio) College.

Hunter will also swim in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. He earned All-American recognition last year in the 200-yard breaststroke finishing eighth.

Krzeminski, a three-time All-American qualified for the NCAA’s in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly. His time of 50.35 in the 100-yard event seeds him 10th, while his time of 1:53.18 in the 200-yard event ranks him 12th. Erik Zelbacher from Rochester Institute of Technology holds the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.69, while Duba sits atop the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:49.44. Krzeminski will also compete in the 50-yard freestyle.

Last year, Krzeminski earned All-American honors by finishing fourth in the 200 fly.

In the past, Hunter and Krzeminski have been part of numerous relay teams which earned All-American finishes. Competition got a little tougher this year as all the relay teams for the Tartans qualified with “B” cuts, but didn’t make the final cut time.
