Carnegie Mellon Swimming Names Assistant Coaches
Jul. 27 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) Carnegie Mellon University Head Swimming and Diving Coach David Belowich has announced the hiring of three coaches to round out his staff for the upcoming season.
Sara Pomaybo will be the director of aquatics activities and assistant swimming coach. Pomaybo is a 1998 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She was a teacher and swim coach at Penn Hills High School for six years and most recently worked for the Fulton County school system and coached at a very high power USA Swimming swim club in Atlanta called Swim Atlanta.
Sean Kavanaugh will join the Tartan family as an assistant swim coach and an assistant aquatics director. Kavanaugh is a 2004 graduate of Ithaca College where he was an All-American and an Academic All-American swimmer for the Bombers. Sean served as the assistant coach for Ithaca in 2004-05 and has been a coach at several clubs including USA Swimming.
In addition, Alicia Gorman will be the Tartans’ new diving coach replacing Patti McClure, who has decided to leave coaching after seven years to devote more time to her family.
“I am very excited to have these talented, energetic coaches working for the Carnegie Mellon Swimming and Diving and Aquatics programs,” comments Belowich.
Carnegie Mellon will open their season October 29 as they host Clarion and Franklin & Marshall.
