Tartans Earn 2-0 Win on the Road

Ricky Griffin’s (Hastings, N.Y.) two goals put Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer back in the win column Friday night as the Tartans defeated Saint Vincent College on the road 2-0. The Tartans are now 8-3-1 for the season while Saint Vincent is 6-9-3.
Griffin opened the scoring in the first half when he scored an unassisted goal from five yards out after retaining possession in the 22nd minute.
The Tartans had the majority of the possession and shots in the first 45 minutes as they took six shots on goal that were saved by the Bearcats’ keeper, Brandon Bower.
Junior goalie Matt Bazin (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Delbarton) recorded his third shutout of the season by stopping four shots in each period.
Griffin gave the Tartans a two goal advantage with his team leading 10th goal of the year in the 89th minute. The sophomore forward finished a cross by junior midfielder Daniel Brackley (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert).
Carnegie Mellon returns home to play Point Park on Monday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. for their last non-league game of the season.
