Carnegie Mellon Men’s Soccer Falls 4-0 at Emory

Nov. 3 – (ATLANTA, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team concluded their 2007 season with a 4-0 setback to #17 Emory Saturday, November 3 in Atlanta, Georgia in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The loss moves the Tartans record to 9-5-2, 0-5-2 UAA, while the Eagles improve to 16-2-0, 6-1-0.
The Eagles wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. In the 13th minute, junior forward Patrick Carver found the back of the net giving the Eagles the 1-0 lead. Junior forward Patrick McFarland extended the Eagles lead 2:25 later off a rebounded shot. The score remained 2-0 heading into the locker room. Carnegie Mellon was held without a shot in the first half, as Emory had seven placing five on goal.
Carver and McFarland each added a goal in the second half to give Emory the 4-0 victory. Six minutes into the second stanza Carver found the back of the net for his sixteenth goal of the season. McFarland sealed the Eagles victory when he added his twelfth goal of the season with six and a half minutes to play.
Tartans junior goalkeeper Matthew Bazin (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Delbarton) had four saves in the loss, as senior Keith Meehan recorded two saves for the Eagles.
The Carnegie Mellon men’s soccer team will now wait to see if they earn a berth to the ECAC South Championships. Bids are announced Monday, November 5.
