Men’s Soccer Scores Two Late Goals to Defeat Westminster

Sept. 9 - (NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team scored two late goals against host Westminster College on Saturday, September 9 to come away with a 2-0victory. The Tartans remain unbeaten with a 3-0 mark on the season as the Titans drop to 1-2.

Senior Andrew Park (Boise, Idaho/Boise) broke a scoreless tie with just under eleven minutes to play, as he found the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Park’s goal was assisted by senior Jonathan Brown (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) at 79:33. The tandem converted another goal less than a minute later when Park fed Brown who buried a goal past Westminster junior goalkeeper Anthony Beilstein.

Carnegie Mellon out-shot Westminster, 14-4, and held a 6-0 advantage on corner kicks. Sophomore Matthew Bazin (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Delbarton) had four saves, while Beilstein made eight saves for the Titans.

The Tartans return to action Tuesday, September 12 as the travel to Grove City for a 4:00 p.m. start.
