Men's Soccer Drops 1-0 Decision to NYU

Oct. 15 - (NEW YORK, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon men's soccer team traveled to New York University for a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Violets. The Tartans go to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in UAA action, while the Violets improve to 12-1 overall, 4-0 in the UAA.
The lone goal of the game came in the 64th minute. Junior midfielder Jeritt Thayer converted on a penalty kick at 63:46 as he fired it past Carnegie Mellon sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Bazin (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Delbarton). Thayer's goal proved to be the game-winner in the Violets 1-0 victory for first place in the UAA.
NYU controlled most of the game, as they out shot the Tartans 19-4. Bazin recorded nine saves and the Violets sophomore keeper, Chris Wright, had two.
The Tartans will be idle until Friday, October 27 when they host Case Western Reserve at Gesling Stadium. Start time is set for 7:30 p.m.
