Browne Highlights Six Men’s Soccer All-UAA

Nov. 14 - (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior forward Jonathan Browne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) highlights six Carnegie Mellon men’s soccer players elected to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Team. The 2006 All-UAA team was released by the conference office on Tuesday, November 14.

Browne was named to the first team for the third straight year, leading the team with 13 goals, six coming in post season ECAC action. Browne was also named to the honorable mention team while earning UAA Rookie of the Year honors in 2003.

Senior midfielder Sean Filipovitz (Cleveland, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) was the lone Tartan to make the second team. Filipovitz finished 2006 with one goal scored and six assists. Fellow senior Will Schlough (Stratham, Mass./Exeter) was named to the honorable mention team following a five goal, five assist season. Schlough also accounted for two game winning goals in his final season.

Also on the honorable mention team is sophomore goal keeper Matthew Bazin (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Delbarton), and freshmen Ryan Browne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and Jonathan Hall (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township). Bazin finished with nine shutouts and a 14-5 record. Browne, a midfielder, started his career with four goals and four assists, including two game winners. Hall, the Tartans central defender, helped keep offenses at bay and limited opposing teams to 11 goals for the season.
