Carnegie Mellon Men’s Soccer Picked to Finish Top of UAA

Aug. 23 - (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The University Athletic Association (UAA) released the men’s soccer preseason poll for the 2005 season with Carnegie Mellon receiving four first place votes and a predicted top finish out of eight teams. The voting was conducted by the league coaches.

The Tartans received a total of 45 points to finish ahead of the University of Rochester’s three first place votes and 42 points. Following closely behind is Emory University who received one first place vote and 40 total points.

Carnegie Mellon won their fifth straight UAA title last season before falling in the second round of the NCAA Tournament via penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie to Allegheny College.

The Tartans locked up the association title with a 2-1 win over visiting Emory in the last game of the regular season.

Carnegie Mellon will look to add a sixth consecutive UAA title to the shelf, as they kick off league play against visiting University of Chicago on October 2 at 11 a.m.
