Browne Receives All-Region Recognition
Dec. 7 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon junior forward Jonathan Browne (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) was named to the 2005 Mid-Atlantic All-Region squad announced Wednesday, December 7. Browne was chosen as a representative on the All-Region First Team.
Browne finished the year as the Tartans (13-3-1) leading scorer with 11 goals, while missing three games on the year. He had three game-winning goals; most notably of which was his goal on the road against Emory (Ga.) University that gave Carnegie Mellon a 1-0 double-overtime win and helped secure the team’s sixth straight NCAA Tournament bid.
For the year, Browne had three games in which he scored two goals. One of those games stands out in Browne’s career as he moved into first place in the Tartan record book for most goals for a career. In a 3-0 win over Mt. Union, Browne scored his 38th and 39th career goals surpassing Eddie Park who played for Carnegie Mellon during the 1986-89 seasons. Browne finishes his junior season with 45 career goals.
This marks the second time in Browne’s career he was named to an All-Region team. After leading the 2004 Tartans to a 12-1-4 record with a school record 20 goals and four assists, Browne was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team.
