Golf Finishes Fifth at Regional Invitational

Apr. 7 – (HERSHEY, Pa.) – At the final day of the Mid-Atlantic Regional the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team turned in a two-day team score of 631 (313-318) to place fifth. The two day 15-team event was held at the par-73, Hershey Country Club.
St. John Fisher fired a team-score of 302 and 305 in the two day event to take home first place with a 607 followed by Wesley carding a 608. Washington & Jefferson and Allegheny finished the Regional Invitational in a third place tie with a two day total of 613.
The Tartans individually were led by junior
Alex Timmons (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls), as he placed tied for thirteenth place carding a 161 (73-81). Carnegie Mellon had two golfers, junior
Joshua Chen (Woodridge, Conn./Amity) and sophomore
Chris Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward), shoot a two day total of 159 tying for twenty-fifth. Chen improved five strokes during his second round shooting a team best 77 on Monday, as Chen fired the second lowest round for the team on Monday, as he carded a 78.
Senior
Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) and sophomore
Brett Cannaday (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) complete the Tartans scoring with a 163 (80-82) and 166 (79-87), respectively.
