Golf Claims ECAC Southern Championship
Oct. 15 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed at the two day Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southern Championships, Sunday and Monday, October 14-15 at Wildwood Golf Club – Allison Park, Pa. The Tartans claimed the championship single handily finishing 23 strokes ahead of Penn State Altoona firing a two-round team total of 637 (323-314).
After carding an 81 day one sophomore Chris Lee (Los Angeles, Calf./Windward) fired a three over 75 to lead the Tartans on Monday. Lee finished the two day event one shot off the individual medalist placing second with a 156.
Senior Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) carded a 159, a 79 Monday, while junior Joshua Chen (Woodridge, Conn./Amity) shot a 78 Monday finishing third on the team with a 160. Sophomore Adam Klein (Bethesda, Md. Walt Whitman) turned in a two day total of 162, and senior Blake Darby (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) rounded out the field for the Tartans shooting a 176.
