Golf Currently in Fourth Place at UAA Championships

Apr. 14 – (ORLANDO, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed at the first day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, Monday, April 14 held at Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge in Orlando, Fla.  Following the first round of play the Tartans sit in fourth place with a team score of 313.  Emory University leads the championships after shooting a 286 in the opening round.

Leading the championship individually through day one is Patrick Cohn of Emory University.  Cohn carded a three under 69. The Tartans were led by sophomore Chris Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) who finished the day in fifth place with a two over par 74.   

Senior Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) carded a 78 for the Tartans and junior Joshua Chen (Woodridge, Conn./Amity) tallied an 80.  Junior Alex Timmons (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) and Brett Cannaday (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) both fired an 81 rounding out Carnegie Mellon’s scoring.  

The second and final round of the championships will be held Tuesday, April 15 with the first tee time set for 7:45 a.m.
