Golf Wins Titan Invitational
Apr. 2 - (NEW CASTLE, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed at the annual Titan Invitational, hosted by Westminster College at the par-72 New Castle Country Club in New Castle, Pa. Monday, April 2. The Tartans came away with the first team victory of their spring season after firing a team score of 316. Tartan sophomore Alex Timmons (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) was the individual medalist after carding a 76 marking a first for his collegiate career.
Timmons individual victory came in a one-hole playoff over Chris Zamias of St. Vincent College. Junior Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) and freshman Christopher Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) tied for third, as they both shot a five over 77. Junior Blake Darby (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) carded an 86 and freshman Brett Cannaday (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) rounded out the Tartans scoring with an 89.
The Tartans return to action Thursday, April 5 when they host a five team Invitational at Longue Vue Country Club.
