Golf In 1st After Day 1 of the W & J Fall Invitational; Team Sets School Record
Oct. 15 - (CRANBERRY, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed at the Washington & Jefferson Invitational Sunday, October 15 held at Cranberry Highlands Golf Club in Cranberry, Pa. After day one, the Tartans hold the lead after carding a school record team score of 287 on the par 70 course. Washington & Jefferson are just one stroke back after day one.
Leading the was for Carnegie Mellon, shooting a three under 67, is freshman Christopher Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward). The Tartans junior Blake Darby (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) carded a 72, while sophomore Alex Timmons (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and junior Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) fired a 73 and 75, respectively. Sophomore Joshua Chen (Woodridge, Conn./Amity) shot a six over 76 to round off the Tartans scoring.
Play continues tomorrow with tee times set at 11:00 a.m. Day two will be played at Southpointe Country Club in Canonsburg, Pa.
