Golf Ends Season with Second Place Showing

May 1 - (VERONA, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf hosted their annual Edward Jones Shootout Tuesday, May 1 held at Longue Vue Country Club in Verona, Pa. On the par 70 course, the Tartans placed second with a score of 309. Washington & Jefferson won the tournament with a score of 307.

Junior Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) and sophomore Alex Timmons (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) led the charge for the Tartans each carding a 75 to finish in a tie for third place. Sophomore Joshua Chen (Woodridge, Conn./Amity) placed 11th for the tournament after firing a 78, while freshman Christopher Lee (Los Angeles, Calif./Windward) shot an 81 and junior Blake Darby (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) recorded an 83 for the Tartans.

Carnegie Mellon enter a second team into the shootout. Leading the group was senior Aanand Radia (Dracut, Mass./Gov Dummer Academy) with a 77. Freshman Brett Cannaday (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) fired an 80 and a pair of freshmen, Adam Klein (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Nick Burkholder (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy), carded an 81 and an 86, respectively. The B squad turned in a fourth place showing with a 324.
