Golf Places 3rd at the Bearcat Invitational
Oct. 9 - (GREENSBURG, Pa.) The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed at the Bearcat Invitational Monday, October 9. The invitational was hosted at The Totteridge Country Club by St. Vincent College. The Tartans turned in a third place showing with a team score of 331.
Placing first as a team was Division II foe Clarion University with a 316 followed by California University of Pennsylvania, Division II, with a 321.
Leading the pack for the Tartans was once again freshman Chris Lee (Los Angeles, Calf./Windward), as he carded a 79. Sophomores Josh Chen (Woodbridge, Conn./Amity Regional) and Alex Timmons (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) along with junior Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) scored in the 80’s, respectively. Chen fired an 82, Smith an 84 and Timmons an 86. Also playing in the group of five, was junior Blake Darby (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) as he carded a 90.
Carnegie Mellon enter a second team into the invitational consisting of seniors Aanand Radia (Dracut, Mass./Gov Dummer Academy) (91) and Randahl Matsuno (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou) (89) along with freshmen Adam Klein (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) (83), Brett Cannaday (Elyria, Ohio/Lake Ridge Academy) (93) and Nick Burkholder (Erie, Pa./Collegiate Academy) (86). The B squad turned in a seventh place showing with a 349.
