Golf Takes 7th at the Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational

Oct. 4 - (MEADVILLE, Pa.) The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team competed at the Guy W. Kuhn Memorial Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College at The Meadville Country Club Tuesday, October 4 and finished in seventh place with a team score of 306.

The Gators of Allegheny College claimed first place followed by Their B and C teams. Division II, Gannon University tied Allegheny’s C team with a score of 302. Washington & Jefferson shot a 303 placing fifth followed by Slippery Rock (304), Carnegie Mellon (306), Westminster (306), Saint Vincent (314), Penn State Behrend (318), Seton Hill (321), Mercyhurst (321), and Edinboro (338).

The Tartans were led once again by freshman Alex Timmons (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), who placed 13th firing a 75. The only other Tartans placing in the top 20 was Senior Matt Simone (Allison Park, Pa./North Allegheny) as he shot a 76 placing 20th. Senior A.J. Straub (St. Mary’s, Pa./Elk County Catholic) carded a 77, sophomore Blake Darby (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) 78, and sophomore Howard Smith (Las Vegas, Nev./The Meadows School) rounded off the Tartans scoring shooting an 82.
