Football Cracks Top 25

Sept. 3 – (STERLING, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon football team found a spot in the first weekly D3football.com Top 25 of the 2007 season. The D3football.com poll, which was released earlier today, has the Tartans sitting 25th, with 101 votes.

The Tartans defeated Rochester Saturday 33-10, earning a spot in this week’s poll. Carnegie Mellon out gained the Yellowjackets 499-186 in total offense as the Tartans rushed for 445 yards, while holding the Yellowjackets to 44.

Ahead of the Tartans in the poll is fellow Western PA college, Washington & Jefferson at number 17. The Presidents were idle last week and will play Geneva Saturday, September 8. Carnegie Mellon will open their 2007 home schedule this Saturday, as the Wolverines of Grove City College travel to Gesling Stadium for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.
