Sivek Named Preseason All-America by Street & Smith’s
Tartans Ranked 23rd in Preseason Poll
July 27 – (PITTSBURGH, Pa) –
Senior running back Travis Sivek (Traverse City, Mich./St. Francis) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was selected to the Division III Preseason All-America Team by Street & Smith’s in their 2007 College Football Yearbook.
Sivek finished the 2006 season as the Carnegie Mellon all-time rush leader with 3,067 total yards. He rushed for 14 touchdowns and for a school record 1,326 yards. He averaged 110.5 yards a game and now holds the school record for rush attempts in a season with 295. He is a three-time All-UAA and All-ECAC honoree and a two-time All-Region selection.
The Tartans will start the 2007 campaign ranked 23rd in the preseason poll. In 2006, Carnegie Mellon won a school best 11 games and claimed their eighth University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on their way to their sixth appearance in the NCAA playoffs.
Carnegie Mellon will open the 2007 season at the University of Rochester on Saturday, September 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
