Ploetzner Named UAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Sept. 6 - (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon inside linebacker Jamie Ploetzner (Rathdrum, Idaho/Lakeland) was awarded University Athletic Association (UAA) Co-Defensive Player of the Week on September 6, 2006. Ploetzner, a senior co-captain, earned the honor following his performance in the Tartans’ 27-6 win over Hiram College on Saturday, September 2.
Ploetzner registered a game-high nine tackles, including three solo and one for lost yardage. He was a key in Saturday’s team defensive performance which held the Terriers to 167 yards of offense and stopped an early scoring drive on fourth-and-one from the Carnegie Mellon 36-yard line, midway through the first quarter.
Ploetzner shares this week’s UAA award with Washington (Mo.) University’s Drew Wethington, who helped the Bears defeat Lake Forest College 21-6.
