Lewis Named Preseason All-America by Street & Smith’s

July 6 - (PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Defensive back Aaron Lewis (Englewood, Ohio/Northmont) of the Carnegie Mellon University football team was selected to the Division III Preseason All-America Team by Street & Smith’s in their 2006 College Football Yearbook.

In 2005, Lewis was named to the D3football.com All-America Second Team and the Don Hansen Football Gazette All-America Third Team. He also garnered honors as First Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) for the third straight year, was named to the ECAC Division III Southwest First Team and to the First Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America team from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Lewis led the UAA with 115 tackles (61 solo) and ranked second in the UAA with six interceptions. Lewis recorded double-digit tackles six times, including a career-high 22 against nationally ranked Thiel College in the season finale. He was also named UAA Defensive Athlete of the Week four times during the 2005 season and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week twice.

Carnegie Mellon will open the 2006 season at Hiram College on Saturday, September 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
