Gimson and Greenstein Named UAA Football Player’s of the Week
Oct. 3 – (Rochester, N.Y.) – Two Carnegie Mellon football players have been honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) for their performance in the Tartans 50-26 victory over Colorado College Saturday, September 30, as the Tartans remained undefeated on the season (5-0). Junior running back Robert Gimson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./The Benjamin School) was named UAA Offensive Player of the week and senior kicker Nathaniel Greenstein (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry) was honored as UAA Special Teams Player of the Week.
Gimson rushed for 119 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns. His third touchdown was a run for 33 yards, giving Carnegie Mellon a 35-14 lead at the start of the fourth quarter. Through five games, Gimson is averaging 101 yards per game (7.5 yards per carry) and has scored a career-high seven touchdowns.
Greenstein was perfect on all five extra point attempts for the Tartans in the victory over Colorado College. Through five games this season, Greenstein has made 17 of 20 extra-point attempts and four of six field goals.
The Tartans are idle this week and will be back in action Saturday, October 14 when they open University Athletic Association (UAA) play at Case Western Reserve University.
