Offense, Defense Win UAA Awards

Oct. 17 - (ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – After the Tartans 20-10 victory over Case Western Reserve University to start University Athletic Association (UAA) play, a player from both sides of the ball earned UAA Athlete of the Week. Senior wide out Mark Davis (Loveland, Ohio) and junior nose guard Mike Reggie (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) received the award for the first time this year and pushed the Tartans award total to eight for the season.

Davis was honored with Offensive Athlete of the Week for his career performance in the win. His touchdown catch of 76 yards was the longest reception of his four-year career. He also amassed 100 yards for the first time totaling 123 on three receptions.

Reggie became the fifth Tartan to earn Defensive Athlete of the Week for 2006. He totaled eight tackles from his defensive line position and had a key sack in the third quarter on fourth and goal at the five-yard line stopping Case from cutting into the 20-3 Tartan lead. Reggie also had another sack and two tackles for a loss of 13 yards. It was the second time in his career he accumulated two sacks.
